Tampa Bay o Bolton 0

Dear readers,

The first 45 minutes of Bolton’s pre season has proved to be a dull affair. Certainly not worth staying up all night for.

A strong line up for Bolton which included new signing Darren Pratley failed, unfortunately, to make an impact on the game with the Florida side creating the best of the first half.

Both teams registered 4 shots on goal in the first half with Tampa drawing 4 saves from Jaaskelienen.

Chung Yong Lee looked the most lively of the Bolton players before the break who showed good pace and a good touch on a few occassions. Kevin Davies has so far failed to make any impact other than his 7 fouls. Matt Taylor and Ivan Klasnic have both looked pretty sluggish and have also failed to show any promise. Taylor has been out paced every time there has been a race to a ball.

Mark Davies has shown a few hints of abilitybut the jury is out on Darren Pratley who looks strong and comfortable at the moment without really shining. Cahill, Knight, Steinsson and Robinson have not looked too troubled at the back although Zat Knight has aimlessly, and inexplicably, launched the ball long for no reason several times.

Bolton’s best chance of the half came when Chong Lee broke into the box but fired his powerful shot over the bar.

For a Premier League team I would have expected more from Bolton . Yes, I know it’s the first game of the season but I know that if I was playing my first game for a while I would be well up for it. The Bolton plyers already look like they aren’t that bothered (think of Wembley 2011).

Bolton seem slow. No real passing moves to speak of. No speed in moving the ball around, nothing crisp. Just semi lazy movement and stroking the ball pointlessly to eachother. Nothing direct or cutting. Unimpressive on the whole.

Subs to probably come in are Gardner, Petrov, Blake, Muamba and others.
