Bolton can have Vela, says Wenger but…

04Jan11

Bolton Wanderers will be given the opportunity to sign the highly rated forward Carlos Vela from Arsenal after manager Arsene Wenger confirmed he could go out on loan.

Wenger said that which ever team can offer Vela the most playing time will be the team who land him in January. Bolton have a “good” relationship with Arsenal after last seasons successful loan of Jack Wilshere.

So, it looks like the fate of Vela could be in Coyles own hands but will the Bolton boss want to drop one of his current stars to bring in the services of the Arsenal man?  Giving assurances of playing time at Bolton could be disruptive to the current squad as players are pushed out. Vela’s introduction could mean the axe for Elmander, Lee, Rodrigo, Taylor, Petrov, Klasnic or even Captain Kevin Davies. Whoever gets the boot will be more than upset after the team have worked so well together this season.

Bolton, though, are desperate for quality and numbers as their squad dwindles to only sixteen available players for Wednesdays nights game.

I predict Bolton will have secured Vela’s signature for the rest of the season by Monday next week. Watch this space. I am normally right.

It’s not something I would have ever imagined myself saying of Bolton a few years ago but I hope you get him. Vela’s a class act and one of the best finishers around who’s well capable of scoring quality goals… as long as we’re at home and already 3-0 up. He needs to learn the tougher, ‘dirty’ side of football and, no disrespect intended, a club like yours could be perfect for his development, as it was for Jack last year. As well as being a bit grittier than a nice, comfortable Carling Cup game at the Emirates, you do also play some decent football under Coyle. Hopefully Bolton can be the making of him, otherwise he’s probably out the door for good fairly soon and that would be a shame.
