Bolton to sign 5 players in next ten days…

30Jun10

Sources suggest that Bolton Wanderers could be adding a further 5 signings to their books over the next week or so. The first of those five is out of contract Burnley striker Robbie Blake.
The 34 year old rejected a one year contract to stay at Turf Moore and becomes the first player to follow Owen Coyle across Lancashire to join Wanderers. Blake will be officially unveiled tomorrow at Bolton after turning down  SPL side Hearts.
(I expect Blake to be a bit of a squad player at 34 – he also scored only 2 goals last season after making 31 appearances for Burnley- even Elmander is better than that)

Other players who could join Bolton this week include Real Madrid youngsters, forward Rodrigo Moreno and left back Marcus Alonso.  West Ham striker Ilan is linked with a move to Bolton as is Juan Roman Riquelme. Riquelme would be a huge coup for Bolton and is available on a free from Boca Juniors. The 32 year old Argentinian International midfielder has an air of Jay Jay Okocha about him and would be sure to excite the Reebok supporters.

Another potential signing for Bolton is in the shape of 19 year old Bolivian International striker Gilbert Alvarez who is currently on trial with Owen Coyle’s men. If he impresses on tour in the USA over the next couple of weeks he coud win a permanent deal.

It looks to be an exciting transfer window for Wanderers followers with Bolton already securing the signatures of Martin Petrov, Robbie Blake and Gilbert Alvarez on trial. Add to that the potential signings of a Brazillian striker an Argentinian midfield ace, two Real Madrid youngsters and Jack Wilshere and we have a pretty interesting squad. It looks unlikely there will be much room left for the likes of Matt Taylor and others at the Reebok if Owen Coyle gets his men.

Well done Owen.

    1) We’re not signing 5 players in the next 10 days.

    2) The deal for the 2 players from Madrid has broken down.

    3) We’re not interested in Ilan or Riquelme despite innacurate reports in the papers.

    4) So far we have signed Petrov and Blake. Petrov is a good if injury prone player and Blake is a 34 year old. Its hardly champagne cork popping time is it?

Riquelme would be a fantastic signing – providing his fitness levels are OK I can see him making the rest of our team step up a level

  3. 3 Andy

Is that the same Matty Taylor who has scored 18 goals in the last two seasons.
