No Joe Cole? – England line up murmurs – Milner back in!

Reports coming out of the England camp suggest that James Milner is set to face Slovenia for this afternoons must win tie! Milner could come in on the right side of midfield ahead of Aaron Lennon who has been largely ineffective of late.

Wayne Rooney is set to retain his starting place but could be partnered by Jermaine Defoe up front. Heskey will drop to the bench alonside lanky robot Peter Crouch. One hopes Crouch will be involved at some point early in the second half if England are not doing the business. His goal scoring record is undeniable for England and he could make a real impact if given enough minutes on the pitch.

Joe Cole could miss out on starting if Capello opts to move Steven Gerrard out to the left for todays match. A move which I feel would be detremental to England’s chances of progression. The team, and indeed the country, have been crying out for some Joe Cole type creativity down the flank and it’s been proven time and again that Gerrard doesn’t perform out wide. We dont need Barry, Gerrard and Lampard all starting, it would be senseless but I fear it could be what we get.

England are ready to play in their all red strip this afternoon – a kit which has seen them never lose a game. Let’s hope that record remains intact today.

ENGLAND TO TOP GROUP – Why we should get behind the boys
WHO WOULD YOU PICK? – A fun tool for picking your England line up

I suggest:

Wright Phillips
J Cole
Carrick (even though I dont like him or think he is that good)
