England Starting Eleven – could it be better?

Starting today for England.

So just the three changes – and no Joe Cole. I am happy to see Defoe up front as he can be a real threat but the inclusion of the three midfielders (Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, 4 if you include Milner too) who have failed to inspire already in this tournament is a little worrying to say the least. I can’t see where the creativity is going to come from. Joe Cole will sit on the bench alongside goal machine Peter Crouch.

Is it going to be another typical England World Cup display?

I can see this happening. A charged up Rooney gets booked. Misplaced passes aplently from Gerrard and his co midfielders. A hairy moment perhaps from David James. A lack of width, a lack of movement (except from bowel movements by nervous fans) a lack of visoin. Poor first touch could be the order of the day. A suprise goal from Slovenia might be on the cards too. I feel the lads who have been selected are often over confident and have an air of arrogance about them. They play as if they deserve or expect to win – as if the opposition should surrender to mighty England. It will not happen.

If we are failing to assert ourselves I would like to see the early introduction of Joe Cole, Peter Crouch and maybe even Lennon. I would even dare to say Rooney could come off. It’s all speculation, however, I could be very wrong.  Here’s hoping!

I expect England to win, and win they must.

Come on you REDS!
