Petrov Pens Wanderers Deal

After much speculation it has finally been declared, via the official club website, that MartinPetrovhas signed for Bolton Wanderers.

Petrov underwent a medical at the Reebok a few days ago and has now put pen to paper on a permanent deal at the Reebok after rejecting a new contract at Manchester City. The 31-year-old winger is a massive coup for Coyle and sends out real messages of intent to the Wanderers faithful. A great deal done and the transfer window isn’t even open yet.

Manager Owen Coyle has fought off competition from other Premier League clubs including local rivals Everton to land Petrov. I’m guessing the deal will be for at least a two year spell with Bolton on wages of around 35k per week. Just a couple of years ago Petrov was valued at 5 million when he signed for City and he has a lot of admirers.

The signing of Petrov could be as significant fo Bolton as signing Jay Jay Okocha many moons ago. Not just because of the impact of the player himself but because of the message Coyle is sending to the Bolton fans. He is turning Wanderers around and going for a creative approach.

Petrov will become Bolton’s first summer signing and will join the club officially on July 1st on a free transfer.
