Bolton V Sheff United or QPR (FA CUP DRAW) (Coyle meets with Bolton)

Managerless Bolton Wanderers have been drawn against Sheffield United or QPR in the FA Cup fourth round.

Bolton saw off league two side Lincoln City at the Reebok on Saturday and will be looking to extend their cup run with a win in round four. The Wanderers are yet to appoint a new manager to suceed the departed Gary Megson but that didn’t stop them notching up their best win of the season so far.  In what has been described as a professional performance the Wanderers kept a clean sheet, their first of the season, scored four times and progressed in style to the next round. The match wasn’t without it’s moments though and Ali Al Habsi pulled off a very fine save to keep Lincoln from scoring.

Meanwhile in the hunt for a new manager Owen Coyle is  still the most heavily linked candidate.  Coyle appeard to wave goodbye to Burnley fans when he approached the stands after their win at MK Dons. Coyle also avoided the post match press conference, the club claiming he had a flight to catch. Coyle, however,  was seen in the players tunnel 45 minutes later.  It is believed that Coyle may have met with officials from Bolton Wanderers today in a bid to agree terms over the Bolton managers position.  Coyle admitted last week that the Bolton job “would be fantastic” and didn’t rule himself out of the running. Coyle also said he “loves Bolton Wanderers” and feels a special affection for them from his playing days.

Gartside will already have spoken to Mr Flood at Burnley to seek permission and should be flying out to see Owen Coyle very soon. It is thought Coyle tod his players he wants to leave after their match at MK Dons this weekend.
